Your last post made me think about what to write next. Home- it's on the cards. Here, what I would like to write if anything is permitted, would be a novel possibly, but, in this format: the narrator would have paragraphs in almost poetic voice. And the action would happen almost in a script dialogue. The poetic and performed- is my favourite combo. The long chewy literary-ness as a vehicle in itself, doesn't much light me up. And I like the showy use of language as art, not the noir telling of a story.
It sounds like an exciting combination. I'm looking forward to reading it! I think this is the great joy of being writers who are not in the public eye, who do not have a large publishing house and its publicity machinery breathing down our necks - we can be true to ourselves and write exactly what it is we want to write
Oh I forgot to say. I know you loved Barkskins, it disseminates a rare and precious scent both of our noses appreciate. I've just read Cormac McCarthy: The Crossing. It's full of quiet wisdom upon a vast landscape. I think you'd love it too.
