Do sign up for Writing Days. My new FREE sub stack newsletter - celebrating writing and the creative life - this week - getting to the end of a novel...
Hi Avril, it was lovely to be invited to follow you here. Insomnia, snowdrops and coming to the end of a novel- me too! I took two weeks off (the -rewrite commences now), and read Annie Proulx's 'Barkskins'. I just know you will love it. Imposter syndrome- yep, a bucket load of it. Although I found a copy of my novel in a charity shop, and it made me feel like a proper writer (bastards)!. I always thought the 'novel', was the endpoint aim. I now understand it is not. As writers, we are rivers. We flowed before, during and after. And those objects people have of ours, books, are like a jar full on river water they've captured, a meld of our goodness, murky bits and impurities. And yet we flow on . . .
Hi Warren - thanks so much for joining me here. I am definitely going for Barkskins - next on my list. How wonderful to see a copy of your novel in a charity shop! I think it’s a great thing. I love it whenever I see a copy of one of mine - which is, let’s face it, pretty rare. Will be talking about such things next week. Keep flowing on …
Thanks Caroline. It’s lovely to be here - looking forward to making lots of new connections x
All those things about writing rang so true (especially the Jodi Picoult quote). Lovely to have you on Substack. I've found it a great place to be. xx
Thanks Caroline. Great to be here xx
